US President Donald Trump has blasted Iran for what he called “40 years of failure” on the anniversary of its 1979 Islamic revolution.
John Bolton, Trump’s National Security Advisor, also delivered an ominous message to Iran’s top leader in a White House Twitter video.
Bolton said Iran continues to seek nuclear weapons, remains “the central banker of international terrorism,” and its military forces are “all over the Middle East, in Yemen, Iraq and Syria.”
Observers say Trump is getting tough on Iran to appeal to his conservative support base ahead of next year’s presidential election. However, his stance is expected to increase tension between the two countries.
