Thousands of race car fans flocked to the center of Tokyo on Saturday to see Formula One cars in action ahead of the beginning of this year’s F1 World Championship.

Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly sped their vehicles along a 360-meter course on a ginko-tree lined avenue and back.

About 10,000 spectators cheered when the drivers performed a donut turn, spinning their cars.

It was the first such performance on a public road in Tokyo.
